Marijuana Legal States and State Jobs

So, I have been looking for a job since having to quit my last one due to not having enough money and gas to make the long drive. I’ve always been drawn to law enforcement jobs, whether as an officer, evidence tech, fingerprinting, etc. I just want to be involved with a department in some aspect. I have been given the opportunity to volunteer through the VIPS program in Denver which is awesome. But, I need a paying job. So, I’ve been looking at the open positions within various city’s departments and it’s a little weird for me to see one thing that is a make or break thing within the state of Colorado’s police departments: zero tolerance of any marijuana use within the last 3 years of any applicant.

Suicide Awareness Month

September is suicide awareness/prevention month. Today, I went and donated $20 to suicide awareness causes and got a tattoo for doing so. This is a cause that, for me, means more than most others. I have been open and honest about my battles with suicidal thoughts in the past. I have written blog posts about them, shared my stories on FB, etc. I have no shame in admitting to my struggles and negative thoughts. It isn’t going to help anyone by standing in a corner, keeping quiet about the issue. By sharing my stories and my truths, regardless of how bad they are or how bad I might look, it helps bring the issue out and let others know it will get better.
